Waxing the City Announces Opening Date in Del Ray

ALEXANDRIA, VA -- Waxing the City, offering facial and body waxing as well as lash and brow-tinting, will be opening soon in Del Ray, next Friday, Feb. 10, according to the company. The new business will be open at 2727 Mount Vernon Ave. (see map below). Want to know more? Check out the Q&A below:

Q: Why did you decide to open the studio in Del Ray?

A: Del Ray has a unique charm and we like that it is an attraction on its own. We live in Potomac Yard, just a few blocks away from Mt. Vernon Ave., and love all of the mom and pop shops. The location is so close to D.C., Arlington and Maryland, and only a few minutes away from Old Town.

Our daily routines revolve around Del Ray, from sweet cravings from Dairy Godmother or a good cup of coffee to start our mornings from St. Elmo's, and we really enjoy smoothies and acai bowls from South Block. We are also anticipating the new developments coming in the near future. We believe that our Waxing the City studio will add a special touch to the neighborhood as it does not have a studio that specializes in waxing, and much like Del Ray's other small businesses, we will provide excellent service and a wonderful customer experience.

Q: What should people know about waxing?

A: I would like people to know that waxing is a lifestyle. When you get waxed you look good, and when you look good you feel good. It can be hard to prioritize things like waxing when you have a million other things going on from day to day, but it's important to take self care seriously so that you can be your best self.

Also, many people ask about the impact of waxing on the skin. Our proprietary wax is designed to offer extremely gentle hair removal, while soothing skin. We also take cleanliness very seriously because that's what we would want for ourselves, so that is what we do for our clients.

Q: What kind of training is the team going through?

A: Our team is made up of licensed estheticians or cosmetologists, and we also go through specialized Waxing the City training to be "cerologists," which means experts in wax in Latin. The training takes place in Colorado or Minnesota with top trainers, and certifies them to work with our own proprietary wax. Our two types of wax (hard and soft) shrink wraps to the hair and helps to make the experience pain free and gentle to the skin.
