Dickey's Barbecue Pit Cuts Ribbon On Elden Street In Herndon
Town of Herndon officials help Mosni and Dhaval Shah cut the ribbon Thursday afternoon on the new Dickey's Barbecue Pit on Elden Street.

HERNDON, VA — Although the Dickey's Barbecue Pit had a soft-launch of its new restaurant in Herndon on April 14, town officials joined franchisee owners Mosni and Dhaval Shah for an official ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday afternoon.
The Shahs, who have operated a hotel in St. Cloud, Minnesota for seven years, moved to the Herndon area in 2020 with plans of opening a restaurant. Unfortunately, the pandemic delayed the launch of the business until this year.
According to Mosni Shah, the couple chose the restaurant's location at 494 Elden St. in the Herndon Centre Shopping Mall because it was adjacent to the IHOP and across the street from the Residence Inn.

They knew from their experience operating a hotel that guests who ate breakfast at IHOP would be looking for somewhere close and convenient to have lunch or dinner.
Billed as "Legit Texas Barbecue," Dickey's serves pit-smoked brisket, pulled pork, pork ribs, jalapeno cheddar sausage, Polish kielbasa, and loaded nacho sausage, as well as chicken breast and wings. Customers can also order traditional barbecue sides, such as fried okra, Mac and cheese, potato salad and cabbage slaw.

Recognizing that customers in the Reston-Herndon area may be looking for vegetarian or pescatarian options, the Shahs are adding salads to the menu. They've also been experimenting with preparing smoked salmon, which they hope to add to the menu soon.
Unlike other Dickey's restaurants, the Herndon location has a fully stocked bar, which offers signature cocktails like the Hickory Old Fashioned (Maker's Mark Bourbon, hickory smoked syrup, cherry syrup, and orange bitters, garnished with a sweet cherry and orange wheel) and Peach Tea (Evan Williams Peach Whiskey or Deep Eddy Peach Vodka and sweet tea, with a lemon wedge).
Dickey's also has local beers and wine offerings. Each month, the restaurant will feature a different Virginia wine. April's featured wine is from the Stone Tower Winery in Leesburg.
Dickey's Barbecue Pit Herndon is open daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Happy Hour is 5-7 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Food is available for dine-in, carryout or curbside service, with delivery available through third-party delivery services. The restaurant also offers catering services. More information is available on Dickey's website.
