Early Voting For Nov. 4 Election In Fairfax City: What To Know

FAIRFAX CITY, VA — In-person voting and in the Nov. 4 general election begins on Friday, Sept 19, which is also when the first vote by mail ballots will sent out.

Virginia voters will cast ballots for candidates running for governor, lieutenant governor, and attorney general.

Fairfax City voters will also be casting ballots for their representative to the Virginia House of Delegates, as well as the city's Commissioner of Revenue and Treasurer.

How To Vote Early In Fairfax City

Fairfax City voters can cast early ballots in the Nov. 4 general election Sept. 19 through Nov. 1 at Fairfax City Hall, 10455 Armstrong St. Hours are Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday voting will be available Oct. 25 and Nov. 1, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Curbside voting is available throughout the early voting period and on Election Day. An acceptable form of ID is required to vote in person.

Visit the Citizen Portal on the Virginia Department of Elections website to check your registration status, register to vote and apply to vote absentee by mail. Requests can also be made to the City of Fairfax Office of Elections, 10455 Armstrong St.

The deadline for registering or updating your registration in person is 5 p.m. on Oct. 24; online by 11:59 p.m.; or postmarked on or before the deadline.

You can apply to have a ballot mailed to you through 5 p.m. on Oct. 24. Your request must be received by your local registrar's office by 5 p.m.

Completed mail-in ballots can be turned in at the Fairfax City Hall drop box. The 24-hour ballot drop box is located by the Atrium entrance closest to George Mason Boulevard. On Election Day, all voting precincts will have drop boxes. Mail-in ballots must be received by 12 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 7.

To vote on Election Day, visit your assigned polling place between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m. Voters may register and vote using a provisional ballot in-person after Oct. 24 through Election Day.

Fairfax County Early Voting: Where To Vote

From Sept. 19 through Nov. 1, early voting in Fairfax County will take place at three locations:

  • Fairfax County Government Center, 12000 Government Center Parkway., Conference Rooms 2/3, Fairfax, 22035. Monday-Friday: 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; Saturdays (Sept. 20, Oct. 25, Nov. 1), 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Sundays (Oct. 26): 1 to 5 p.m. Polls will also be open Monday, Oct. 13, (Columbus Day), from 1 to 7 p.m.
  • Mount Vernon Governmental Center, 2511 Parkers Lane, Alexandria, 22306. Hours: Monday-Friday: 1 to 7 p.m.; Saturdays (Sept. 20, Oct. 25, Nov. 1), 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Sundays (Oct. 26): 1 to 5 p.m. Polls will also be open Monday, Oct. 13, (Columbus Day), from 1 to 7 p.m.
  • North County Governmental Center, 1801 Cameron Glen Drive, Reston, 20190. Hours: Monday-Friday: 1 to 7 p.m.; Saturdays (Sept. 20, Oct. 25, Nov. 1), 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Sundays (Oct. 26): 1 to 5 p.m. Polls will also be open Monday, Oct. 13, (Columbus Day), from 1 to 7 p.m.

Thirteen additional locations will open be Oct. 23 through Nov. 1 for early voting:

Hours for the 13 additional early voting sites will be Monday-Friday: 1-7 p.m.; Saturdays (Sept. 20, Oct. 25, Nov. 1), 9 a.m.-5 p.m.; and Sundays (Oct. 26): 1-5 p.m. Voters can cast ballots at any of the 16 early voting sites.

To vote on Election Day, visit your assigned polling place between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m.
