Man Who Engaged In Lewd Act On VA Buses Already In Custody For Assault And Battery: Police
City of Fairfax Police investigators identified a suspect who they say propositioned CUE bus passengers and exposed himself multiple times.
FAIRFAX CITY, VA — A 63-year-old man who was wanted for exposing himself multiple times on a CUE bus was already in custody at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center on an assault and battery charge, according to authorities.
City of Fairfax Police officers received a report on May 15 about a man who propositioned another bus passenger for sex and then performed a lewd act, according to police. Investigators determined the same suspect was involved in similar incidents over the past few weeks.
Through their investigation, detectives identified Basim Dauwd Jami of an undetermined address as a suspect in the case, according to the incident report.

Investigators learned that Jami was already in the custody of the Fairfax County Sheriff’s Office on a misdemeanor charge of assault and battery, according to court records.
On Thursday, Jami was arraigned on the assault and battery charge in Fairfax County General District Court and his preliminary was scheduled for July 1, court records say.

On Friday, Jami was charged with obscene sexual display and later released on an unsecured bond, police reported.
