Karl Frisch Out-Raises Tony Sabio In Providence School Board Race
Karl Frisch and Tony Sabio are on the Nov. 7 ballot running to represent the Providence District on the Fairfax County School Board.

FAIRFAX, VA — Karl Frisch has out-raised his opponent Anthony Arthur Sabio, in the race to represent the Providence District on the Fairfax County School Board, according to the latest campaign finance filing.
Frisch's campaign reported on Sept. 15 that it received $41,860 between July 1 and Aug. 31, according to the Virginia Public Access Project. By comparison, Sabio's campaign received $8,196 for the same reporting period.
In total, Frisch's campaign received $14,347 in cash contributions of more than $100 and $22,207 in cash contributions or less than $100, and $5,306 in loans received, during the reporting period. Adding that to a starting balance of $98,390 and subtracting $20,749 in expenses, the campaign had an ending balance of $109,502 on Aug. 31.

Frisch's top four donations for the reporting period were:
- $1,000 - Futures PAC
- $1,500 - Democratic Party - Fairfax County
- $500 - Lisa Downing
- $500 - James E. Edwards-Hewitt
Sabio's campaign received $5,449 in cash contributions of more than $100 and $2,747 in cash contributions of $100 or less, according to VPAP. Adding that to a starting balance of $2,773 and subtracting $6,236 in expenses, the campaign had $4,733 left in the bank on Aug. 31.

Sabio's top four donations for the reporting period were:
- $3,000 - Jeff Hoffmann
- $1,000- James Rogers
- $500 - Daniel C. Boyd
- $191 -Michelle M. Murdoch
School Board candidates run as independents, but they parties can endorse them. Frisch was endorsed by the Fairfax County Democratic Committee and Sabio was endorsed by the Fairfax County Republican Committee.
The Providence District covers parts of Fairfax, Oakton, Merrifield, Falls Church, and Tysons.
The first absentee ballots for the General Election were mailed on Friday, Sept. 22, which was also when early voting begins. Early voting will continue through Nov. 4, which is three days before Election Day.
