How will you spend the long weekend?

Labor Day means and extra day off for most of us, but it also, a little sadly, signals the end of summer.

In order to make the most of the long weekend, we've compiled a list of everything you need to know about the weather forecast and local events to keep you and your families entertained.

Weather

According to the National Weather Service, there's a 30 percent chance of rain on Saturday. It will be partly sunny with a high temperature of 88 degrees. There's the same chance of showers on Sunday, with highs topping out in the mid-80s. On Monday, except cloudy skies with a 40 percent chance of storms. The high will be a cooler 79.

  • Where/When: U.S. Capitol West Lawn. Sunday, 8 p.m. 
  • Why Go: The concert will begin with music from John Philip Sousa and will include performances by Mercedes Ellington, granddaughter of of jazz legend "Duke" Ellington. If you're feeling patriotic and in the mood for a free concert, make tracks to the Capitol on Sunday.
  • Pricing: Free - no tickets required!

Washington Nationals vs. New York Mets

  • Where/When: Nationals Park, 1500 South Capitol St., SE, Washington. Friday, 7:05 p.m. Saturday, 7:05 p.m. Sunday, 1:35 p.m. Monday, 1:05 p.m.
  • Why Go: You can get your fix of peanuts, Cracker Jacks at the ballpark this weekend. And with ticket prices starting at only $10, you may even have some cash leftover for a beer or two!
  • Pricing: Ticket prices start at $10.

"Cathy Rigby is Peter Pan" at Wolf Trap

  • Where/When: , 1645 Trap Rd., Vienna. Friday, 8 p.m., Saturday, 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. Sunday, 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.
  • Why Go: The Wolf Trap summer season will be over before you know it. If you haven't made it out to this National Park yet this summer, make plans to take your family to this high-flying production of the class children's tale.
  • Pricing: Tickets range in price from $20 to $70.
