FAIRFAX, VA—Two canine-related events will take place simultaneously Saturday, June 15, at the new Fairfax City Dog Park, 10200 Berry Street. One will be the annual "Furfax FidoFest," and the other will be the official grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony for the aforementioned dog park, which actually already has opened.

The dog park, open daily from dawn to dusk, features fenced run areas, park benches, pet waste stations, trash receptacles and water fountains. It's at the site of the old Westmore Elementary School grounds. Dogs must be licensed and have current rabies vaccinations. The ribbon cutting is set for 11 a.m.

As for FidoFest, 11 a.m.-2 p.m., it's a neat little event dubbed "the ultimutt day out" by organizers. On hand will be a wide array of vendors, dog activities, demonstrations, a K9 splash zone and more. If you're looking for something of an off-the-wall activity for the whole family, this would seem to perfectly fit the bill.
