A date has been set for the special election to fill the vacant Braddock District seat on the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors.

BURKE, VA — A Fairfax County Circuit judge issued an order and writ of a special election on Thursday to fill the Braddock District seat on the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors. The seat became vacant when former Supervisor James Walkinshaw (D) was elected to represent the 11th Congressional District in the Nov. 7. special election.
Chief Judge Penney S. Azcarate scheduled the special election for Tuesday, Dec. 9, a date that was not fewer than 45 days nor more than 90 days from when the seat became vacant, as specified by the Code of Virginia.
The person chosen to represent the Braddock District on Dec. 9 will complete the remainder of Walknshaw's term as supervisor, which runs until Jan. 1, 2028.
