Seafood Restaurant Coming To Fairfax City's Kamp Washington Shopping Center

A restaurant specializing in serving wild-caught and farm-raised seafood is coming to the Kamp Washington Shopping Center.

FAIRFAX CITY, VA — Fairfax City diners will soon be able to enjoy wild-caught and farm-raised seafood at a new restaurant coming to the Kamp Washington Shopping Center.

Property owner GRI-Regency Centers is currently working to refit the 3,030-square-foot space formerly occupied by Mod Pizza at 11048 Main St. for California Fish Grill Casual Kitchen. The restaurant specializes in prioritizing sustainability and environmental responsibility in the seafood it serves.

"We only serve wild-caught and farm-raised seafood that is rated Best Choice or Good Alternative by the Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch program or Eco-Certified by a third-party," according to a company statement.

Headquartered in Newport Beach, California, California Fish Grill was founded in 1998 by Victore Topete. It currently operates 58 companies nationally, mostly in Arizona, Nevada and California. It is also due to open a restaurant in Rockville, Maryland, according to The MoCo Show.

On May 23, the City of Fairfax Office of Code Administration issued a commercial tenant license to California Fish Grill, LLC, which was posted on front of the Kamp Washington restaurant. It read:

"California Fish Grill is to convert a recently closed Mod Pizza into their restaurant's concept as a tenant improvement, which includes a small patio under the overhang. The sale and consumption of beer and wine shall be proposed by the tenant."

No information was available about when the work would be completed or when the restaurant would open.
