Take Advantage of Last Weekend of Local Farmers' Markets

The last of the season's produce will be up for grabs this weekend

If you've been a little lax this summer in supporting our local farmers, this is your last chance to do it.

This Saturday and Sunday will mark the last markets of the year in Fairfax City, although the at Fairfax Corner will continue to be open year-round.

The will be open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the intersection of Main Street and West Street in downtown Fairfax and the will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the intersection of Old Lee Highway and North Street.

Brenda Snyder, who works with the Downtown Fairfax Coalition, which organizes the markets, said vendors will be selling a variety of fall crops including apples, pears, greens, yellow squash, winter squash, green beans, potatoes, and, of course, several varieties of pumpkins. Other items like French pastries and homemade sausage will also be available.

The markets will be open rain (or ) or shine.
