FAIRFAX CITY, VA — For those who are interested in such things, St. Patrick’s Day is still more than two weeks away. Wouldn’t it be great if there was a way to celebrate the holiday a little bit early?

The Fairfax City Economic Development Authority, Central Fairfax Chamber of Commerce and the Old Town Fairfax Business Association teamed up to sponsor the eighth annual Fairfax City Restaurant Week, which runs through Sunday, March 2.

One of the 32 restaurants participating in the annual event is The Auld Shebeen Irish Pub & Restaurant, where diners can take advantage of restaurant week to experience St. Patrick’s Day a few weeks early.

Here’s what The Auld Shebeen is planning for restaurant week, according to partner Mick Boyle.

What lunch specials will you offer during restaurant week?

“We will be featuring our most popular Irish fare, including our Fish and Chips, which is by far our most popular item. We are also offering our house-made Bread Pudding or Sticky Toffee Pudding for dessert, both made in house and are very popular.”

Some patrons may not have visited your restaurant before. What do you want them to know about your restaurant? What is your specialty and what are you most proud of?

“We are a privately owned Irish pub and restaurant coming up on 20 years in business here in the City. The pub is owned and managed by me and Dominic Keane, both Irish immigrants from Dublin who came to the U.S. in the early 1990’s. The pub is very family friendly, featuring live traditional music at the weekends and Saturday afternoon, and brunch on Saturday and Sunday

What do you like about being a business owner in Fairfax City?

“The City lends itself to an Irish pub, it has a great sense of community and has a great blend of younger and older folks with GMU and the local residents.”
