Traffic Alert: Gallows-Lee Closed, Mason Day, CASA Run
Events will close an intersection, downtown lanes and draw more drivers.
Construction, Mason Day and a 10K for abused children could mean traffic problems in and around Fairfax City. Here's a quick look at the events for Fairfax City drivers:
Gallows-Lee Highway
Drivers need to find an alternate route to make way for construction at Gallows Road and Lee Highway Friday. The Merrifield intersection will be closed until mid-afternoon Sunday with detour signs directing traffic. Businesses located at and around the intersection will still be open and accessible.

Mason Day
's annual Mason Day will likely cause traffic and concert noise between 3-10 p.m. on Friday. The university has three bands scheduled to play live in Lot L behind the Patriot Center starting at 7 p.m. and activities throughout the afternoon. Main Street and Chain Bridge Road
Fairfax CASA's Run for the Children will close off a lane on Main Street and Chain Bridge Road in the downtown Saturday morning. The 10K and 3K run/walk events will start and finish at the Fairfax County Courthouse and weave through nearby neighborhoods. The right eastbound lane on Main Street will be closed between Judicial Drive and West Street. The right southbound lane on Chain Bridge Road will be closed between the courthouse entrance and School Street. Click here for maps.
