Truck Snags Overhead Cables On Main Street Causing Temporary Backups
A truck hooked low-hanging overhead cables along Main Street in Fairfax City on Monday afternoon, causing a temporary partial road closure.

FAIRFAX CITY, VA — A truck traveling westbound on Main Street near Fairfax Square hooked an overhead cable, causing backups for about half an hour on Monday afternoon.
City of Fairfax Police closed one lane of westbound Main Street around 1:40 p.m., as a Dominion Energy employee worked with the driver of the truck to clear the low-hanging overhead cable that had been caught by the truck.
At first, Dominion Energy estimated that it would take about an hour to clear, but Main Street reopened to traffic about 30 minutes later.

After the cable was cleared from the truck, city police closed off the Main Street entrance to Fairfax Square to allow a Cox Communications employee to repair the cable, which still hung low along the side of the roadway.
While the entrance to the Fairfax Square remains closed, residents can reach their neighborhood by exiting Main Street at Burke Station Road and taking the access road along Main Street.
