VA Senate District 37 Election: Petersen, Salim Vie For Open Seat
Fairfax voters will be heading to the polls Tuesday to cast ballots in the 2023 Democratic Party Primary.

FAIRFAX, VA — Fairfax voters will be casting ballots on Tuesday in the 2023 Democratic Party primary. Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Any voter still in line at 7 p.m. will still be able to vote.
A lot of the attention in the lead-up to Tuesday's primary has been on the candidates running for the District 37 seat in the Virginia Senate. Incumbent Sen. Chap Petersen is running against Saddam Azlan Salim.
With the redrawn Senate district lines going into effect this year, both candidates will be running in the new 37th District, which includes Fairfax City, as well as all or parts of Vienna, Dunn Loring, Merrifield, Oakton, Fair Oaks, Tysons, and Falls Church.
