Voting Extended For Braddock District Democratic Primary
Voting has been extended for voters registered to cast ballots in Saturday's Democratic Party firehouse primary.

BURKE, VA — Due to technical issues, online voting in the Braddock District Democratic Party's firehouse primary has been extended to 7 p.m. on Sunday.
Four Democrats are vying to represent their party and challenge Republican Ken Balbuena in the Dec. 9 special election: Rachna Sizemore Heizer, Sabrina Mattin, Ilryong Moon, and April Pavis Shroeder. The winner will complete the remainder of former Braddock Supervisor James Walknshaw's (D) term, which runs until Jan. 1, 2028.
In-person and online voting was supposed to end at 5 p.m. on Saturday, but long lines and technical issues at the three in-person polling locations forced many voters to stand in line for more than an hour or leave without voting.

Voters with their online ballots opened, but not submitted before 7 p.m. will be unable to vote on Sunday, according to the Fairfax County Democratic Committee. Only the voters who registered to vote in-person on Saturday, but did not cast their online ballot or did not receive one will be able to cast a ballot during extended voting.
The FCDC office, which is located at 8500 Executive Park Ave., Suite 402, in Fairfax, will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday to assist voters who are having difficulty casting their ballots online.

Voters with the following problems are eligible for assistance, according to the FCDC:
- Voters who did not receive an online ballot
- Voters who aren't able to cast their ballot online
- Voters who did not receive a phone number verification code to cast their ballot online.
All other voters should cast their ballots online themselves and not go to the FCDC office.
Voters that did not register on Saturday are not eligible to register to vote for in the firehouse primary, and should not go to the FCDC office. For more information, email info@fairfaxdemocrats.org or call 703-573-6811 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
