Wintry Mix Coming To NoVA, DC This Weekend: Latest Forecast
Temperatures will be in the mid-20s ahead of a wintry mix of snow, sleet and rain passing through NoVA this weekend, according to NWS.
VIRGINIA — Northern Virginia and the Washington, D.C., area can expect colder weather this weekend, with a mix of rain, sleet and snow possible on Sunday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.
Friday night, the thermometer is expected to drop to around 24 degrees, warming to the upper 30s on Saturday under mostly sunny skies, according to the NWS forecast. But the cold weather will return during the overnight hours, with the chance of rain and frozen precipitation moving into the region after 1 p.m on Sunday.
“We’ll have more chilly weather this weekend, before it turns warmer Monday and Tuesday with a chance of a rain,” according to the Capital Weather Gang. “At least we’ve vanquished the wind, by and large, through the weekend. If you’re after sunshine, Saturday may be our brightest day”.

While the NWS predicts a 50 percent chance of wet weather on Sunday afternoon, AccuWeather forecasts a 25 percent chance of rain, with temperatures hovering in the low 40s this weekend.
Rain, possibly mixing with sleet snow, will continue into Sunday evening, switching over to rain after 10 p.m., according to the NWS forecast.

While temperatures are expected to climb into the middle of next week, NWS predicts that rain and possibly showers will continue through Thursday.

- Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 38. East wind 3 to 6 mph.

- Sunday: A chance of rain, snow, and sleet after 1pm. Cloudy, with a high near 39. Calm wind becoming east around 6 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 50%.
- Sunday Night: Rain, possibly mixed with snow and sleet, becoming all rain after 10pm. Low around 38. Chance of precipitation is 90%.
- Monday: Rain likely, mainly before 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 52. Chance of precipitation is 70%.
- Monday Night: Showers likely, mainly after 1am. Cloudy, with a low around 46. Chance of precipitation is 70%.
- Tuesday: A chance of showers before 1 pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 62. Chance of precipitation is 50%.
