Up Your Baking Game At King Arthur Baking Company's Fairfax Pop-Up
Vermont's King Arthur Baking Company opened its second-ever pop-up store in Fairfax Corner, which will be open through late July 2025.

FAIRFAX CORNER, VA — To the delight of area foodies and bakers, King Arthur Baking Company opened a pop-up retail store in Fairfax Corner on Sept. 16.
"It has everything a baker could possibly need to bake at home," said Carrie Underwood, King Arthur's director of marketing and communications. "From flour, ingredients, mixes — we've had a lot of interest in our fabulous mixes, as well as tools and resources for baking."
King Arthur's location at 11948 Grand Commons Ave. is not just a place where people can buy the company’s products. Customers will be able to watch baking demonstrations, attend a book signing or even sample some goodies, such as King Arthur’s pumpkin spice mix.

“Sourdough is huge,” Underwood said, as she gave a tour of the store. “I don't know if you heard, but sourdough is huge, so we will have sourdough starters in that fridge. But also, we have a lot of what we call our secret ingredients that really kind of up your baking game. There's some lovely spices and vanilla and boiled apple cider.”
Within just a few days of opening, the store was flooded with customers who had visited King Arthur’s home in Norwich, Vermont and were saying how great it was to have a location in their backyard, according to Underwood.

“They’re just thrilled to have us here, which was just great and heartwarming for us to see,” she said. “We had one other pop-up in Greenville, South Carolina, but it was just a holiday pop-up. We’re also going to have a holiday pop-up this year in Boston, but this is a longer term.”
As a true pop-up, King Arthur signed an agreement to operate the Fairfax Corner store through late July 2025,
“We're really excited to be just out and about and connecting more one-on-one with bakers,” Underwood said. “This is kind of a great exploration, having a pop-up and just kind of seeing how it goes. We're able to do this more quickly than probably we would with a permanent location.”
