2023 Leaf Collection Season Approaching In Falls Church
As the changing leaves reach their peak, residents should be aware of upcoming leaf collections beginning.

FALLS CHURCH, VA — The leaves are changing, and that means it will soon be time to rake fallen leaves and get them to the curb for collection.
Leaf collection in the City of Falls Church will start during the week of Oct. 23 and continue through Jan. 5, 2024. The city vacuums leaves from residential areas with multiple passes between late October and early January. Leaves will be turned into mulch that will be available to residents in March 2024.
Residents can prepare leaves for collection by raking them to the curb, not in the street. Leaves should be piled away from storm drains and water meter covers. Stones, litter branches and other yard debris should be removed, as they can damage collection equipment. Residents should avoid parking on leaf piles, as it can be a fire hazard.

Another alternative to raking leaves to the curb is placing them in brown kraft bags with a required $1 yellow collection sticker on each. Residents can also let their leaves decompose in their yard to act as a fertilizer, use lawnmowers with the mulch setting, or compost leaves.
The city is split into four collection zones, which will have collections on different dates.
