Road Closure At Falls Church Secondary Campus Planned After School Year Ends
Access to the Falls Church Secondary Campus will be impacted over the summer due to work on the West Falls development.

FALLS CHURCH, VA — A road closure is planned at the Falls Church Secondary Campus, but it won't have an impact until after the school year ends.
The Falls Church City Public Schools announced Mustang Alley will be temporarily closed through the summer due to the continuing West Falls development construction. The mixed-use development is being constructed in the old location of George Mason High School, which was replaced with the new Meridian High School.
Mustang Alley, an access road to Meridian High School and Mary Ellen Henderson Middle School, will be closed after dismissal on the last day of school, June 16. The Haycock Road entrance to Mustang Alley will be closed, but the entry from Route 7/Leesburg Pike will remain open. The road will reopen by Aug. 14 before the new school year starts. A bicyclist and pedestrian path will also stay open.

"We understand the potential inconveniences this temporary closure may cause," said Superintendent Peter Noonan in a statement. "We appreciate the community's understanding and patience as we navigate this critical construction phase. These modifications are designed to ensure community safety and facilitate the successful completion of a project that promises significant benefits to our community."
The road closure will help expedite the Mustang Alley completion for the West Falls project. The mixed-use development is slated to have apartments, condominiums, senior living, a hotel, medical offices, restaurants and retail, a grocery store, central outdoor space and seasonal community events. It is expected to open in fall 2024.

The City of Falls Church development would connect through a grid of roads to a proposed development on the Fairfax County side on the West Falls Church Metro property. That development still needs to go through approvals in Fairfax County.
