Gas Leak Causes Road Closures In Falls Church

A gas leak was reported Wednesday in the area of Oak Street Elementary, which had an early dismissal.

FALLS CHURCH, VA — A gas leak has prompted road closures in the City of Falls Church on Wednesday.

Officials responded to the natural gas leak in the area of S. Oak Street, Timber Lane, and Parker Avenue. The Arlington County Fire Department said residents should expect a natural gas odor in the area. No injuries were reported.

All road closures have ended, except S. Oak Street from S. Lee Street to north of Timber Lane.

The gas leak is in the area near Oak Street Elementary School, which had an early dismissal Wednesday. According to Falls Church City Public Schools, kiss-and-ride pickups were moved to Seaton Lane. For Mount Daniel Elementary's Green Line Bus, afternoon drop-offs were moved from Lee and Oak Streets to Broadway and Chanel Terrace.
