Meridian Theater Scores 7 Cappies Nominations For 'The Love Doctor' Production
Meridian High has seven nominations and Falls Church High has two in the DC area high school theater's version of the Tony Awards.

FALLS CHURCH, VA — Meridian High School's production of "The Love Doctor" proved to be just the medicine the audience needed.
The production drew seven nominations for the prestigious National Capital Area Cappie Awards, which are considered the Tony Awards for high school theater in the DC region. The nominations include Best Play, Matthew Bloss-Baum for Lead Actor in a Male Role in a Play, Hugo Ratheau for Supporting Actor in a Male Role in a Play, Isabel Pierce for Comic Actor in a Female Role in a Play, Paxton Hebblethwaite for Featured Actor in a Male Role in a Play, Will Albaugh as "Queen" for Featured Actor in a Female Role in a Play, and Carlos Ortiz for Music Composition and Orchestra in the Creativity category.

Meridian's theater students performed the comedy play "The Love Doctor" from March 23 to 25. The play by Molière was originally performed for King Louis XIV at the Versailles palace. Meridian's theater production was led by theater director Shawn Northrip.

Other Falls Church area Cappies nominations included Falls Church High School's Pauleen Kabiling for Dancer in a Female Role and Judy Zam for Vocalist in a Female Role in "Chicago: Teen Edition."
Winners of the Cappies awards will be announced at the Cappies Gala on June 12 at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in DC.
