FALLS CHURCH, VA — The Metro shutdown this upcoming weekend will mean some riders will need to use shuttles to get to and from Dulles International Airport and other Northern Virginia destinations.

From June 3 to 25, Metro will not have Metrorail service at the Vienna, Dunn Loring, West Falls Church and East Falls Church stations. The shutdown means Orange Line service will only run from Ballston-MU east to New Carrollton.

Silver Line stations from McLean to Ashburn, including Dulles International Airport, will be cut off from Metrorail service to and from DC, as the connecting East Falls Church station will be shutdown. The Silver Line will run from Ashburn to McLean and Ballston-MU to Downtown Largo.

Metro said the shutdown will allow crews to replace the 40-year-old steel rail between Ballston-MU and Vienna stations to improve safety and reliability. Fiber-optic cable installation will coincide with the other work during this shutdown.

Free local and express shuttles will be offered during the shutdown.
