Thursday: Olympian Michelle Kwan to Campaign for Hillary Clinton in Falls Church

Former Olympic figure skater will visit local businesses in Falls Church to get out the word about the Democratic presidential nominee.

FALLS CHURCH, VA -- Olympic figure skater Michelle Kwan, a surrogate outreach coordinator for the Hillary Clinton campaign, will be campaigning for the Democratic presidential nominee this week in Falls Church.

A new poll shows Clinton ahead of GOP presidential nominee Donald J. Trump by 14 points in Virginia.

Kwan will visit local businesses Thursday at 12 noon at the Eden Center in Falls Church. The shopping center is located at 6751 Wilson Blvd.

She will discuss Clinton's "agenda for tax fairness" and help launch 'Asian American and Pacific Islander Virginians for Hillary,' with events in Falls Church and Arlington, according to the Clinton campaign.

Kwan, 36, is a two-time Olympic medalist (in 1998 and 2002), five-time World champion and nine-time U.S. champion. She competed at a high level for over a decade and is the most decorated figure skater in U.S. history.

Kwan segued from ice skating to another love: Politics and international affairs. In 2011, she earned a Master's degree in International Relations from Tufts University's Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy. She became a public-diplomacy envoy for the State Department and has also promoted women’s sports worldwide on the White House advisory panel on fitness.
