Dr. Jeffrey Malka, grandson of Sudan’s last chief rabbi, recently spoke at a Rockville commemoration, sharing stories of a once-thriving Jewish community uprooted by mid-20th-century politics and reflecting on how their experiences parallel other displaced Middle Eastern Jewish communities.
   

• Virginia Figure Skating World Champion Ilia Malinin Named To Forbes '30 Under 30' List (dailyvoice.com) — A world champion figure skater with ties to Falls Church has just been named to Forbes’ 2026 “30 Under 30” sports list. Ilia Malinin, who studied at George C. Marshall High School in Falls Church, earned the honor after a record-breaking, undefeated 2024-25 season and remains the only skater to land a fully rotated quadruple Axel in competition.
