A meeting on pedestrian safety was held last summer after groups such as CASA and the Coalition for Smarter Growth called for making roads safer for pedestrians. The Bailey’s Crossroads community is home to a large immigrant population where many residents rely on walking, biking and using the bus to get to work and their daily activities. The heavily-traveled area often has high-speed traffic on Leesburg Pike and Columbia Pike with few sidewalks as well as unsafe crossings and bus stop access.
