Pine Spring Elementary in Falls Church was recently awarded a $10,000 grant from the Silver Diner's "Eat Well Do Well" program—and the money will be going toward enhanced fitness facilities, the school says.

Pine Spring's program included a "Bobcat Boot Camp" and "Fruit of the Week" program.

Armando Peri, principal at Pine Spring, said, "It is really important to know it was a collaborative effort of the PTA, staff, students and community for us to win this award."

Peri said the school has a wellness coordinator who worked with a local trainer and created a workout program that is held an hour before school starts.  The workouts are offered three days a week for all ages at the elementary school and is titled "Bobcat Boot Camp".

Pine Spring's work out program is combined with a healthy eating and food of the week program that offers rewards to the students for eating healthy foods.
