What's Open, Closed For Indigenous Peoples' Day 2023 In Falls Church
Indigenous Peoples' Day on the federal Columbus Day holiday will result in schedule changes and closures in Falls Church.

FALLS CHURCH, VA — The federal Columbus Day holiday, recognized as Indigenous Peoples' Day in the City of Falls Church, will result in various closures and schedule changes.
Some City of Falls Church services will be closed for the holiday on Monday, Oct. 9. City Hall and all city government offices will be closed, including the Commissioner of the Revenue, Treasurer's Office, and Elections Office. In-person early voting will not happen on Oct. 9. In addition, Mary Riley Styles Public Library will be closed, and no City Council meeting will be scheduled that week. The Falls Church Community Center will be open for normal business hours, 8:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., for scheduled camps and classes.
Fairfax County government is not closed on the holiday after removing the Columbus Day holiday from its holiday calendar and adding Juneteenth and Election Day last year.

However, state offices like the Fairfax and Arlington County Circuit Court, General District Court and Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court will be closed. Virginia DMV locations will be closed on Oct. 9.
At Fairfax County Public Schools, students have a holiday for Indigenous Peoples' Day, but staff have a professional development day.

Fairfax Connector will run holiday weekday service.
