• Advocates seek more protections for manufactured home residents in Fairfax (ffxnow.com) — Franconia-area mobile home residents are getting new protections as Fairfax County updates its comprehensive plan, zoning rules, and relocation guidelines to help preserve manufactured home parks and reduce displacement risks. Franconia District Supervisor Rodney Lusk calls preserving existing housing a central goal, while advocates push for stronger compensation and cooperative land ownership so families can stay rooted in their communities.
   

• Fairfax board narrowly votes to oppose any casino legislation not requested by supervisors (ffxnow.com) — Franconia-area residents are represented in a closely split Fairfax County Board of Supervisors vote to formally oppose any state-authorized casino in the county unless the board itself requests it under strict conditions. Franconia District Supervisor Rodney Lusk sided with the narrow majority, reflecting concerns that even the prospect of a Tysons casino could hurt economic development and leave locals with limited financial benefit and less control over land-use decisions.
   

• 2025 Guide To Holiday Displays Around Northern Virginia, Fredericksburg (patch.com) — Franconia residents can enjoy the Franconia Lights display at 6004 St. John Drive in Alexandria, featuring more than 20,000 synchronized lights, a 12-foot tree, and even snow and hot chocolate on good-weather nights. The show raises funds for the Blood Cancer Society, lets visitors control the music online, and is part of a broader roundup of standout holiday displays across Northern Virginia and Fredericksburg.
