15 Vehicle Break-Ins in Downtown District

2 persons of interest sought in the investigation, with more than a dozen cars tampered with, according to Fredericksburg City Police.

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Investigators are looking to identify two men seen in the area of a string of car break-ins downtown, according to Fredericksburg Police.

Officers are also reminding residents to keep cars locked and to take valuables with them when they leave a vehicle unattended.

Since the beginning of the month, the city has received 15 reports of car break-ins and vehicle tampering in the downtown area.

"The persons responsible are targeting unlocked or unsecured vehicles and taking cash, change and wallets" according to a statement.

  • Cobblestone Boulevard
  • 1100 block Charles Street
  • 700 block Lafayette Boulevard
  • 800 block Weedon Street
  • 800 block Charlotte Street

Photos of the two "persons of interest" in the case were released on Friday. Police say the men are believed to frequent the downtown area.

The first person of interest is a white male, approximately 20 to 25 year old, 5’6” to 5’8”, 155 to 165 pounds with brown hair, hazel eyes, and medium-length curly hair. 

The second person of interest is a black male, approximately 20 to 25 years old, 5’5” to 5’7”, 135 to 145 pounds with short black hair and glasses.
