Assault & Battery Charge Filed In Incident At Fredericksburg Hotel

Stafford County Sheriff's deputies arrested a man they say assaulted a woman at a Frederickburg hotel on Saturday night.

FREDERICKSBURG, VA —cFredericksburg man found himself in jail Saturday night after committing assault following an argument, according to the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded around 9:44 p.m. to the Red Roof Inn at 386 Warrenton Road for the report of an assault and a vehicle theft.

The victim told deputies that she had been arguing with a man she knew who was playing video games in one of the hotel rooms. When she tried to leave the room, the man assaulted her, before taking her keys and driving off with her vehicle, according to the sheriff’s office. The victim suffered minor injuries.

After an alert for the vehicle was issued, officers from the Fredericksburg City Police reported seeing the vehicle. Once it crossed into Stafford County, deputies conducted a high-risk stop and arrested the driver, whom they identified as Aubrey Rudd.

Rudd was charged with assault and battery, unauthorized use of a vehicle, and driving while suspended. He was then taken to the Rappahannock Regional Jail and held without bond.
Rudd has a March 8 hearing scheduled in Stafford County Juvenile & Domestic Relations Court on the assault and battery charge, according to court records.
