Bomb Threat Closes Regional Library

An unspecified threat Friday to the Central Rappahannock Regional Library forced City of Fredericksburg police to shut down the building for more than an hour as they called in the Spotsylvania Sheriff's office bomb sniffing dog, among other emergency protocols.

City of Fredericksburg police received a phone call at 3:30 p.m. Friday alleging an unspecified threat to Central Rappahannock Regional Library, Natatia Bledsoe, police department public information officer, said.

Police contacted library management and they evacuated the building, Bledsoe said. Police and fire units responded to the scene, per protocol.  Caroline St. was closed in front of the library, and law enforcement, including the Spotsylvania Sheriff's office bomb sniffing dog, searched the building.

"Nothing was found, everything was clear and the library reopened by 4:45 p.m." Bledsoe said.
