STAFFORD, VA—A woman was arrested Wednesday, May 1, after robbing the Aquia Best Western at 2868 Jefferson Davis Highway and then trying to bite an employee who confronted her, according to the Stafford County Sheriff's Office. Amanda Lee Shuck, 29, of Stafford, was charged with robbery, false identification to law enforcement, assault and battery, identity theft, possession of a controlled substance, possession of controlled paraphernalia and trespassing.

Shortly after 11:30 p.m., police were dispatched to a reported disturbance at the hotel. Upon arrival, an officer was told a woman had robbed the place following a bizarre episode that began when she entered the hotel and appeared distraught. She requested a room but had no ID, and an employee told her she couldn't rent a room without identification. She then asked for a tissue and to use the restroom.

The employee momentarily stepped away from the desk to find the restroom key. When he returned, he saw that the woman had grabbed a chair and was climbing over the counter. He asked her what she was doing, and she told him she was robbing the business.

When the worker tried to stop her, she shoved him and "quickly absconded with the register." She fled to the back area of the hotel and stashed some cash into her clothing and purse. The employee managed to grab her, after which she bit him. Meanwhile, a customer saw the incident and called 911.

Following Shuck's arrest, a search of her found cash, a container with white powdery residue and a needle. She initially gave police a phony name. Police later found Shuck previously had been banned from the hotel, and that she was wanted out of Stafford County for failure to appear on a larceny related offense.
