Drugs, Firearms Found In Vehicle Parked At Spotsylvania School

A search by a school resource officer of a vehicle parked at a Spotslyvania school turned up two firearms and marijuana, authorities say.

SPOTSYLVANIA, VA — An 18-year-old high school student faces charges after drugs and firearms were found in his vehicle that was parked in the school lot, according to the Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office.

Officials at Massaponax High School were told a car was parked in the school parking lot without a permit, according to the sheriff’s office. Once the school’s resource officer located the vehicle, school administrators identified the student who had parked it and removed him from class.

The student, who authorities said smelled of marijuana, told the SRO and school officials that there were firearms in the vehicle. Searching the vehicle, the SRO confiscated two guns and marijuana, according to the incident report.

Sheriff’s deputies arrested and charged Darius Anderson of Spotsylvania with possession of marijuana on school property, possession of a concealed weapon, and two counts of felony possession of a firearm on school property, according to the sheriff’s office.

Anderson was taken to the Rappahannock Regional Jail, where he was held on a secured bond.
