Sheetz Fire Intentionally Started In Fredericksburg: UPDATE

UPDATE: A Stafford woman was arrested for staring a fire Sunday morning that has indefinitely closed a Sheetz in Fredericksburg: Police.

FREDERICKSBURG, VA—A Stafford County woman has been arrested for intentionally starting a fire Sunday morning, May 5, in the Sheetz convenience store/gas station in the area of Carl D. Silver Parkway and Fall Hill Avenue, according to Fredericksburg Police. Diana Maria Thorne, 30, was charged with arson of an occupied building.

The fire was quickly extinguished by the Fredericksburg Fire Department. The store has been closed until further notice, and no injuries were reported. The fire was reported shortly after 7 a.m. and was extinguished shortly thereafter.

A Fredericksburg Police spokesperson told the Free-Lance Star surveillance footage showed Thorne enter the store and intentionally start the fire in one of the snack aisles, after which she was seen leaving in a vehicle. It was found a short time later in a nearby Walmart parking lot, after which Thorne was arrested. No word on why she started the fire. The store is expected to be closed the rest of the week.
