FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Jeff Smith originally launched The Insurance Smith LLC in October 2002 with just $2,300 and a big dream — to help families obtain financial protection and meet their retirement goals.
"We operate two distinct yet complementary businesses under one roof," Smith told Patch recently "At The Insurance Smith, we offer a full range of insurance services tailored to protect what matters most," he told Patch. "At The Retirement Smith, we serve as registered investment advisors, providing personalized retirement planning solutions designed to help clients secure their financial futures."
Recenty, Smith moved his business from the historic Star Building to its new permanent home at 541 William St. in Fredericksburg. The company's hours of operation are Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

"Fredericksburg is truly special," he said. "I genuinely enjoy working with the people here — my clients bring me joy every day and many feel like family. I also love the walkability of downtown and the camaraderie among local business owners. There’s a real sense of connection in this community."
Smith and his company were recently featured as the Agent Spotlight in Insurance News Magazine, which he described as a proud moment for the team and a testament to the work they're doing for their clients.

In addition, Smith teamed up with his wife, Jennifer Scherer of Fredericksburg Fitness Studio, to launch a new podcast called Fitness & Finance Radio, which focuses on holistic wellness and retirement financial planning.
"We explore essential topics that connect maintaining your health with the impact it can have on your financial future and overall quality of life in retirement.," Smith said.
