Fredericksburg Election Results: Peters, Durant, Griffin Win: AP
Lee Peters, Tara Durant, and Joel Griffin secured nominations for delegate and VA senate in Fredericksburg races, according to the AP.

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Lee Peters will be the Republican nominee for delegate in Virginia's 65th district, according to the Associated Press. The AP called the race between Peters and Michael Kasey on Tuesday night.
Joel Griffin and Tara Durant secured the Democratic and Republican nominations for the 27th district of the Virginia Senate, according to the Associated Press.

Polls were open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Three races were on the ballot for Fredericksburg residents, two Republican primaries and one Democratic primary.
In the 27th district of the Virginia Senate, Ben Litchfield and Joel Griffin ran to represent the Democratic Party. Current Delegate Tara Durant faced a challenge from Matt Strickland in the district's Republican primary.
Republicans Lee Peters III and Michael Kasey were vying for the Republican nomination in the race for the 65th district seat in the Virginia House of Delegates. Peters secured victory on Tuesday night, according to the Associated Press.
Peters will face Democrat Joshua Cole in the general election in November.
This year, local voters had many reasons to come to the polls to vote in primaries. Two voters, who asked not to be named, told Patch that they were most concerned about safety within schools and a women's rights.
Another voter noted that they were just glad to support good leadership from elected officials they could trust.
