Fredericksburg School Board Results: McFadden, Bailey Lead Over Lucas
Molly McFadden and incumbent Jarvis Baily lead over Margie Lucas in the race for two at-large seats on the Fredericksburg School Board.

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Molly McFadden and incumbent Jarvis Bailey hold leads in the race for two seats on the Fredericksburg City School Board, according to unofficial results at 10:30 p.m.

On Tuesday night, all of the city's precincts reported tallies from Election Day. Officials have not reported final numbers from provisional ballots.
There were three candidates for two seats on the city's school board: McFadden, Margie Lucas, and Bailey.

Unofficial results from the Department of Elections on Tuesday night showed McFadden and Bailey with sizable leads over Lucas. With all precincts reporting unofficial results, McFadden and Bailey secured 4,616 and 4,097 votes, respectively. Lucas tallied 2,375 votes on Tuesday night, the elections department reported.
Bailey is an incumbent, while Lucas and McFadden are first-time school board candidates. Both challengers told Patch they wanted to bring fresh perspectives to the city's school board. Bailey did not fill out Patch's candidate questionnaire.
"I am dedicated to working to address the challenges our schools face. We need to provide a safe environment for our students, and cultivate academic excellence that will prepare our youth for a bright and promising future," Lucas said.
McFadden expressed similar sentiments, with an emphasis on inclusion and equity.
"It's about addressing the needs of our students, supporting our teachers, and connecting the resources our community offers," McFadden told Patch. "I believe in diverse perspectives and working together to enhance the outcomes for every student in Fredericksburg City Schools."
