Fredericksburg Schools Change Schedule For Tuesday, Jan. 16
Inclement weather is causing Fredericksburg area school systems to change their schedules on Tuesday.
FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Schools around the Fredericksburg area will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 16 due to snow and other inclement weather conditions.
School systems in Stafford, Spotsylvania, and Fredericksburg all announced closures for Tuesday. Each school system has also cancelled all activities on campuses.
Snow came to the region on Monday and continued throughout the day in many areas.

Here is the upcoming forecast according to the National Weather Service:
- Monday night: Snow before 1am, then snow, possibly mixed with freezing rain. Patchy fog after 2am. Low around 29. Calm wind. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Little or no ice accumulation expected. Total nighttime snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.
- Tuesday: A chance of rain, snow, and freezing rain before 1pm, then a chance of snow between 1pm and 2pm. Patchy fog between 10am and noon. Patchy freezing fog between 9am and 10am. Otherwise, cloudy, with a high near 37. Light north wind becoming northwest 8 to 13 mph in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%.
- Tuesday night: Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming clear, with a low around 12. Northwest wind 5 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph.
- Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 33. Light west wind increasing to 5 to 10 mph in the morning.
- Wednesday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 20. Southwest wind 7 to 10 mph.
- Thursday: Partly sunny, with a high near 42.
- Thursday night: A chance of snow after 2am. Cloudy, with a low around 26. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
- Friday: A chance of snow before 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 37. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
