FREDERICKSBURG, VA — The City of Fredericksburg is holding a Ghana Friendship Day Celebration from noon to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 6.

The celebration will include Ghanaian cultural exhibits, art, music and cuisine.

“We invite you to join the City and residents of Fredericksburg, Africulture, citizens of Ghana and those of Ghanaian ancestry as we highlight the historic and important relationships we have had with Ghana over the centuries, including our Sister Relationship with Princes Town, Ghana since December 2006,” the city said.

At the celebration, visitors will get to learn about the historical connections between parts of Ghana and Fredericksburg.

A representative from the Embassy of Ghana will be in attendance and will receive the Proclamation from the City Council on this special celebration of Ghana’s Independence Day.

The event will take place at Historic Fredericksburg Market Square at 214 William Street. If there is bad weather on March 6, the event will take place at St. George's Episcopal Church Fellowship Hall at 905 Princess Anne Street.
