Heating Up For the Weekend: Weather in Virginia

Mornings in the 50s? We've got one more before we hit summer-like temperatures and stay there. Particularly, as we head for 90-degree weather on Saturday and Sunday.

We'll start out the weekend with a slight chance for storms Friday and Saturday. If storms do appear on Saturday, there's a chance they will be severe, according to the National Weather Service.

But the real story this weekend is the warming temperatures, as a weather system moves into the region and decides to hang around.

Daytime highs will be 90 degrees on Saturday and up to 92 degrees on Sunday. We'll wake up Friday morning with a low at 56 degrees, but lows overnight Saturday and into Sunday will climb to a muggy 73 degrees.

Temperatures will cool heading into next week, with chances for severe weather returning by mid-week.

• Saturday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 73.
• Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 92.
• Sunday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 64.
• Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 81.
