I-95 Paving, Route 1 Traffic Light Installation in This Week's Lane Closures in Fredericksburg Area
Virginia Department of Transportation warns residents to be careful in these work zones through June 18.

When you're on the road in the Fredericksburg area this week, look out for these road construction projects closing lanes or working on the shoulder of the roadway.
STAFFORD COUNTY
Interstate 95 Northbound

(Update) Monday – Thursday, 9 p.m. – 4:30 a.m. and Friday, 9 p.m. – 7 a.m. Crews will continue paving on I-95 northbound between mile marker 146 and mile marker 148 located just south of the Prince William County line. Motorists should expect single and double lane closures in the work zone.
Route 212 (Chatham Heights Road)

(New) Sunday – Saturday, 8 p.m. – 5 a.m. Crews will be paving and line striping on Route 212 (Chatham Heights Road) from Route 3 to Route 218. Motorists should expect lane closures and delays in the work zone.
Route 218 (Butler Road)
(New) Sunday – Saturday, 8 p.m. – 5 a.m. Crews will be milling on Route 218 (Butler Road) eastbound from Carter Street to the bridge over CSX Railroad, located just east of the WaWa. Motorists should expect lane closures and a rough driving surface in the work zone.
Sidewalk Improvements
(Update) Monday-Wednesday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Crews will continue work to install handicapped-accessible sidewalk ramps in the Spring Lake subdivision on Spring Lake Drive, Cookson Drive, Markham Way, Johnson Court and Collins Court, and at the intersection of St. Albans Boulevard, Twain Court and Melville Court.
Thursday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Crews will install handicapped-accessible sidewalk ramps in the Staffordboro Boulevard Park & Ride lot.
Friday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Crews will install handicapped-accessible sidewalk ramps at several Route 1 intersections near the Aquia Park shopping center.
Route 610 (Garrisonville Road)
Monday - Saturday, 8 p.m. – 5 a.m. One lane will be closed intermittently on Route 610 eastbound and westbound at Onville Road. Crews are placing sewer lines in connection with the Route 610/Onville Road intersection improvement project.
Routine Maintenance
Monday - Thursday, 6 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. and Friday, 6 a.m. – noon. Stay alert for mobile lane closures. Crews will be performing routine maintenance activities in the following locations:
- Route 3 (King’s Highway) – mowing
- Route 1 (Jefferson Davis Highway) – shoulder work
- Route 17 (Warrenton Road) – shoulder work and mowing
- Route 608 (Brooke Road) – mowing and patching
- Route 629 (Andrew Chapel Road) – mowing
- Route 631 (Coal Landing Road) – shoulder work
- Route 687 (Hope Road) – shoulder work
- Route 610 (Garrisonville Road) – mowing
- Route 607 (Ferry Road) – mowing
- Route 603 (Cassion Road) – mowing
- Route 627 (Mountain View Road) – patching
CITY OF FREDERICKSBURG
Route 1 (Jefferson Davis Highway)
(Update) Motorists should expect delays on Route 1 between the Rappahannock Canal, located near Mary Washington Blvd. and Alvey Drive, located just south of College Avenue for construction activity associated with a new traffic signal structure at Route 1 and Mary Washington Blvd. A single lane closure will be in place on Route 1 during the following hours:
- Route 1 Northbound – Sunday, 6 p.m. – 6 a.m.
- Route 1 Southbound – Monday, 6 p.m. – 6 a.m.
Fall Hill Avenue
Monday – Thursday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. and Friday, 9 a.m. – noon. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures on Fall Hill Avenue between Carl D. Silver Parkway and the Rappahannock Canal for construction activity. Flaggers will direct motorists through the work zone.
Mary Washington Boulevard
Monday – Thursday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. and Friday, 9 a.m. – noon. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures on Mary Washington Boulevard between Hospital Drive and Sam Perry Boulevard for construction activity. Flaggers will direct motorists through the work zone.
SPOTSYLVANIA COUNTY
Route 620 (Harrison Road)
(New) Monday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Crews will be milling and paving on Route 620 (Harrison Road) from Wicker Street (service road that runs parallel to Route 1 northbound) to Lafayette Boulevard. Motorists should expect delays and a rough driving surface in the work zone.
Wicker Street
(New) Monday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Crews will be milling and paving on Wicker Street (service road that runs parallel to Route 1 northbound) between Route 1 Business/Lafayette Boulevard (near Ultimate Buick GMC) to Lassen Lane. Motorists should expect delays and a rough driving surface in the work zone.
Route 1227 (Olde Greenwich Drive)
(New) Monday and Tuesday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Crews will be milling and paving on Route 1227 (Olde Greenwich Drive) from Route 1 Business/Lafayette Boulevard to the dead end. Motorists should expect delays and a rough driving surface in the work zone.
Route 1324 (Lassen Lane)
(New) Monday and Tuesday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Crews will be milling and paving on Route 1324 (Lassen Lane) from Wicker Street to Route 1 Business/Lafayette Boulevard. Motorists should expect delays and a rough driving surface in the work zone.
Smoketree Subdivision
(New) Wednesday – Thursday, 8 a.m. – 7 p.m. Crews will be placing stone along the shoulder on various streets in Smoketree Subdivision. Flaggers will direct motorists through the work zone.
Route 628 (Smith Station Road)
(Update) Monday – Saturday, 8:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. Motorists should expect lane closures and delays on Route 628 southbound between the CVS entrance and Courtland High School. Flaggers will be directing traffic each day through Saturday, June 18. This work is in connection with the Route 628 (Smith Station Road) Turn Lanes and Signal Modification Project.
Harrison Road
Monday – Thursday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. and Friday, 9 a.m. – noon. Motorists should expect intermittent flagging and single lane closures on Route 620 (Harrison Road) for tree removal. This work is in connection with the Route 1 and Harrison Road intersection improvement project.
Routine Maintenance
Monday − Thursday, 6 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. and Friday, 6 a.m. – noon. Stay alert for mobile lane closures. VDOT crews will be performing routine maintenance activities in the following locations:
- Route 3 (Plank Road) – mowing
- Route 607 (Guinea Station Road) – mowing
- Route 635 (Lee Hill School Road) – mowing
- Route 608 (Massaponax Church Road) – mowing
- Route 613 (Brock Road) – mowing
