Here are the top three stories in Fredericksburg today:

  1. Down the road in Stafford County, Republican Mike Sienkowski has won against Heather Mitchell for the GOP nomination for Stafford County Treasurer to replace Laura Rudy who is not aiming for reelection after being in the seat since 2008. This is Sienkowsk’s first time running for office; however, he has had 17 years of experience working for the Commissioner of the Revenue’s Office. Currently, there are no Democrats running for this position that will be elected in November. (PotomacLocal.com)
  2. The Fredericksburg police now have a suspected shooter from the event that killed 19-year-old Antoine Fox, who was produced dead at the scene due to multiple gun shot wounds on Saturday, Jun. 10 on the 1700 block of Lafayette Boulevard. There have been multiple anonymous tips that all match the same description of the man who has not been publicly announced by name yet. The Spotsylvania Circuit Court has filed a warrant for the police to search the phone of the suspect for activity, as well as the location between 12:00 p.m. on Jun. 9 through 5:00 a.m. on Jun. 10. The suspect has failed to reply or answer any phone calls from the police, but his mother has confirmed that they have the correct number. (Subscription: Fredericksburg.com)
  3. On Tuesday, Jul. 4, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., the Patawomeck Museum and Cultural Center is having its free Grand Opening Event. There will be a hands-on experience with food, entertainment, and crafting activities for whoever joins. This is a great opportunity to be educated and experience what life was like for the Patawomeck in 1492 before the culture and terrain were explored and changed by Europeans. (Fredericksburg Today)
