Man Sought After Chasing Child From Bus Stop

Nine-year-old girl tells sheriff's that she was chased home after school by an older male.

The Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help in identifying a man who they say tried to kidnap a 9-year-old child as she was walking home from the school bus stop.

The incident happened shortly before 3:50 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 21 at Polaris Court in Spotsylvania County. The girl told police that as she was getting off the school bus she noticed a man exit a minivan parked at the end of the street and chased the girl past two houses before turning back towards the minivan. The girl kept on running until she reached her house.

The girl told police that she had not seen the van in the area before. The van is described as similar to a Grand Caravan with a medium sized dent in the passener side door and spoked hubs.
