Marine Corps 'Historic Half' Marathon 2019 In Fredericksburg

Along with the thousands of runners set to compete in the 12th annual Marine Corps "Historic Half" marathon Sunday comes road closures.

FREDERICKSBURG, VA—Along with the thousands of runners set to compete in the 12th annual Marine Corps "Historic Half" marathon Sunday, May 19, will come rolling street closings and re-openings. Roadways will begin closing at 6:30 a.m. before the figurative all-clear whistle sounds around 11 a.m.

According to Fredericksburg police, "no parking" restrictions will begin at 3 a.m.—two hours earlier than in previous years. Numerous pedestrians are expected in the areas near the start-finish line near Wegmans in Central Park and in the James Monroe High School area for the Semper 5ive race, as well as along the route.

The Historic Half begins 7 a.m. at Carl D. Silver Parkway. The Semper 5ive and the Devil Dog Double begin 6:40 a.m. at Washington High School and James Monroe High School. Festivities begin 4p.m. Friday with the two-day Healthy Lifestyle Expo at the Fredericksburg Expo & Conference Center, 2371 Carl. D. Silver Parkway. It features vendors, exhibitors and speakers.
