FREDERICKSBURG, VA — A new exhibition called “Lafayette’s World: Revolutionary Ideal and the Limits of Freedom” is coming to the Fredericksburg Area Museum.

In 1824, the Marquis de Lafayette visited Fredericksburg as part of his Grand Tour of the United States.

The exhibit will open March 1 with a reception from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., celebrating its opening. Light refreshments will be provided, free and open to the public. The exhibition is curated by Gaila Sims, curator of African American history and special projects.

“Lafayette’s World: Revolutionary Ideals and the Limits of Freedom” is sponsored by Virginia Humanities, in partnership with the Virginia American Revolution 250 Commission.

The museum is located at 907 Princess Anne Street in Fredericksburg.
