Furniture Sponsorship

(In photo) Jim Powell, owner of Powell’s Furniture in Fredericksburg, meets a few of the puppies
from Powell’s Pups, a litter he sponsored from Old Dominion Humane Society (ODHS).
Hadleigh, Bailey and Lola visited Powell and his staff at the store last week. Powell’s
sponsorship made a difference in the dogs’ lives--when the rescues arrived at ODHS they were
covered in fleas and underwent treatment and bathing regimens. Businesses, companies and
groups can sponsor a litter of puppies for $300. The sponsorship is used to care for the new
pups with examinations, vaccinations, flea and tick medication and more. The sponsoring
business can name the litter of puppies and reap the benefits of gaining positive social media
exposure, including on the ODHS Facebook page that consists of nearly 30,000 followers. The
businesses can keep up to date about their puppy litters by joining the ODHS Alumni Facebook
group, where adopters share photos and talk about the pups. ODHS is located at 3602
Lafayette Boulevard in Fredericksburg. Adoption events are Wednesdays from 5-7 p.m., Fridays
from 6-8 p.m., Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Application
surveys in advance are preferred and take priority over walk-ins. For more information about
sponsoring puppies, the dogs available for adoption and adoption surveys, as well as upcoming
events, volunteering, fostering and donating items, visit

When Jim Powell, owner of Powell’s, sponsored the litter, his donation went to the care of the
litter, which was severely infested with fleas. After ODHS volunteers cared for the litter with
medicated baths, they are now fluffy and ready for adoption. For more information about
sponsoring puppies, the dogs available for adoption and adoption surveys, as well as upcoming
