Route 1 Lane Closed for Days (At Least) for Storm Water Drainage Repair

The City of Fredericksburg has experienced the failure of a storm water pipe on the west side of Jefferson

Davis Highway/US Route 1 approximately 800’ south of Kings Mill Drive (just south of the Virginia
Central Railway Trail crossing of Route 1.) The affected area is close enough to Route 1 that the outside
south bound lane has been closed as a precaution and to permit working room to perform the necessary
repair.

The lane closure will likely remain in effect 24/7 through Friday, July 1 and perhaps longer. Motorists
are urged to use extra care driving through the work zone and to consider alternate routes, especially
during the afternoon/early evening rush period.
