School Closure In Fredericksburg City Extended; Monday Plans Revealed

Freezing temperatures have prompted Fredericksburg City Public Schools to extend Friday's school closure and cancel some activities.

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Although the winter storm that forced Fredericksburg City Public Schools on Friday to close all schools and offices has moved out of the area, Friday night's cold temperatures could refreeze roads and sidewalks.

For this reason, FCPS has decided to extend Friday's school and office closures and cancel all activities through noon on Saturday, according to a post on the school system's website.

"Our fantastic maintenance and custodial crews have been treating parking lots and sidewalks and will continue to address them this weekend as we prepare for school on Monday," the post said. "Again, all activities are canceled until noon tomorrow, December 6. At that time, buildings will re-open."
