Tip Leads Bank Robbery Investigators To Fredericksburg Hotel: Report

A suspect wanted in connection with the robbery of a Fredericksburg bank was arrested Saturday at a city hotel, according to authorities.

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — A tip to the Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office led to the arrest of a suspect in connection to a robbery that occurred Saturday morning of a Fredericksburg bank.

An employee at the Truist Bank at 3600 Plank Road notified the sheriff’s office around 11:15 a.m. that a man had stolen an undisclosed amount of cash, according to authorities.

During the robbery, the man did not show a weapon and no injuries were reported. Witnesses told deputies that the suspect drove off in a copper/orange pickup truck.

Acting on a tip, investigators with the sheriff’s Spotsylvania Street Crimes Unit and officers with the Fredericksburg Police Department arrested a suspect later that evening at a Fredericksburg hotel, according to authorities.

Lemar Gerald Dawson, 45, of Locust Grove was charged with robbery and remanded to the Rappahannock Regional Jail.
