Two Planning Commissioners Honored

Susan Garnett Spears and Shawn Lawrence were honored by City Council Tuesday night for their service as planning commissioners.

Spears served from July 2008 - Oct. 2012, and Lawrence from Oct. 2010 - Oct. 2012.

Mayor Mary Katherine Greenlaw recognized both for their "outstanding and exemplary service to the City of Fredericksburg."

"It has truly been an honor to serve," Lawrence said.  "I'd like to thank my wife Dorothy, who kept my food warm for me after every long meeting," he said.

"It's an honor for all of us to serve," Spears said.  "We all do it for the love of the city."

The Planning Commission conducts public hearings to consider applications for special use permits, site plans, subdivisions, rezonings and zoning text amendments.
